About the Recipe

Crafted from a perfect blend of ground beef and flavorful sausage, this meatloaf embodies the rich, comforting taste that has come to be cherished. Rather than a sweet tomato sauce, this meatloaf is topped with a generous layer of delicious spaghetti sauce, this meatloaf takes a delicious detour into the extraordinary.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef

  • 1 pound ground sausage

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion

  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic (dried or fresh)

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 teaspoon  Tony Chachere's

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/3 cup shredded parmesean

  • 1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce

  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Spray a 9x11 oven safe dish with cooking spray.

  3. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except pasta sauce and freshly chopped parsley.

  4. Form mixture into a large loaf and place loaf in the 9x11 oven safe dish. Top with half of the jar of pasta sauce. Cover with foil.

  5. Bake for 40 minutes covered.

  6. Remove from oven, top meatloaf with remaining pasta sauce and freshly chopped parsley.

  7. Bake an additional 5-15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
